On November 26, 2019, Albania was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4. The earthquake damaged thousands of buildings, including educational institutions. For post-earthquake reconstruction, the Republic of Slovenia provided financial resources for the construction of a base plate and production and setting-up of a modular school in Nuajë in the municipality of Krujë.

Children, as the most vulnerable population group, were provided with adequate safe and modern facilities for the implementation of educational programme. Modular school is made of quality materials that provide excellent stability, making it safe from various weather conditions and earthquakes. The setting-up of a modular school in Albania has proven to be a very successful project, which can be followed up by other donors in Albania or the Albanian authorities, who could also use this type of solution for other schools or public institutions.
